Competa is a popular destination for the British. It is a lovely whitewashed village situated in the heart of the Axarquia region in the hills above Torrox.

Competa is, approximately 62km from Malaga airport and 30 mins to Torrox Costa beach. At 700 metres above sea level, Competa offers superb views of the surrounding mountains, countryside and the Mediterranean. Competa is very well known for it's locally produced wines of which there are two types, sweet and dry. The sweeter, which is more common and slightly cheaper, tends to be more popular with locals rather than foreign residents or tourists.

Competa is particularly popular amongst Scandinavians. It is also a popular spot for pensioners and as a result, there are many retirement homes to be found here.
